![]() But the true star of this game is of course none other than menacing Shodan. There is a lot of backtracking, but the world feels detailed and lived in and so its a true joy to explore the space station. I feel that some might get frustrated with how specific you need to be in searching for that particular room, switch or code, but the reward is great once you reach it. They definitely do not make games like this anymore in this day and age. Many of the levels are set up like a maze and it can become quite confusing quite fast. That does mean that the game's pacing and level design definitely feel from a different era. DNA and elements of System Shock can still be found in those later games and it is now finally time to come home! System Shock originally came out in 1994 and so it is great to see it with a new coat of paint! They updated graphics, sound and controls, but in terms of level layout and flow the game stays true to its roots. ![]() I'm a huge fan of Bioshock and Bioshock Infinite and the roots of those games lay with another title named System Shock.
